"Can vei la lauzeta mover"

Bernart de Ventadorn (ca. 1130 - ca. 1200), one of the most well known troubadoures, was known for writing secular music. His work, Can vei la lauzeta mover, was a canso. canso can best be described as a lover's complaint.

Can vei la lauzeta moverEdit

Secular music of the era was based around poetry, and this chant was no exception. In Can vei la lauzeta mover, each line of poetry consisted of eight syllables, with the same rhyme appearing in every stanza. The poem ended with a four line stanza called envoi.
